Google Summer of Code 2009 is coming
Please get ready for Google Summer of Code 2009 coming very soon (now the link is 404). If you are still doubt, go check out SoC 2008.
I recommend Drupal if you have no project yet. Follow application guideline. I am looking for application idea for Drupal this year and also finding students to join this program with me.
Google Summer of Code 2008: Accepted Projects
Eventually, Google Summer of Code 2008 releases the accepted projects this year. Please warmly welcome students especially for projects of Drupal. Sadly, My proposed idea regarding XFN is not accepted. Drupal people don't really want social stuffs. That's ok. Now it's time to do it myself. If one really wants this stuff, he/she will do it without any funding by the way.
Google Summer of Code 2008: The time to submit applications
Google Summer of Code 2008 for students has just begun since yesterday. Now it is the time for students to submit applications and proposals. Do you have any idea in mind? No? Don't worry. You may find some idea fit your experiences at idea list page of each project. For example, Drupal has official ideas list which already approved by community members and mentors to make sure that its relevant and its scope are all acceptable. If answer is yes, you still need to propose your idea to Drupal community to verify your idea at SoC 2008 Group. After your idea is considered to be a good enough project for this summer, it will be added to the official ideas list.
Google Summer of Code 2008 Mentoring Organizations
Google Summer of Code 2008 is ready for students. List of mentoring organizations are available as well as basic ideas proposed by each project. There are several interesting projects.
- Drupal is still opened for project proposals. If you have cool idea, please share it!
Globus is a new mentoring organization this year. Difficulty in this project is not too hard, e.g., integrating Globus Toolkit to specific linux distributions, debian or redhat.
apt-get install globustoolkit yum install globustoolkit
